3. Stuck in the Middle

Jefferson now president, Washington is transformed. Tensions rise, whispers of blackmail spread, and a dangerous secret from Jefferson's private life threatens. Abroad, American ships face deadly threats as the Barbary Wars escalate.

4. Scandals and Lies

Secrets come to light as a relationship is exposed. The Haitian Revolution looms large and political enemies gather, Jefferson battles to seal the Louisiana Purchase. He learns that the price of power comes steep.

Heartbreaking loss leaves Jefferson reeling altering the course of lives bound to him. As Sally Hemings dreams of freedom and future, tensions reach breaking point when the rivalry between Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton turns deadly.

6. Dolleys Squeezes

James and Dolley Madison must breathe new life into American politics. Melinda Colbert returns to Washington, only to find that her romance with John Freeman faces impossible odds. The Madisons emerge as a political force.

7. The British Are Coming

The War of 1812 erupts. As America is beset by the British, Madison falls gravely ill. His chances of survival are questioned and his allies must scramble to keep the government from falling apart. An attack on Washington appears imminent.

8. Burning Down the House

The British march on Washington. Whilst Madison joins the fight, Dolley makes a stand to save the White House's most sacred symbols. As the building burns, the survival of both the house and the nation it represents hangs in the balance.
